In this impressive English Renaissance style manor, a decidedly masculine air permeates throughout the baronial structure. The robust details, so powerfully rendered in dark-stained oak paneling, ornate plaster ceilings and exuberant limestone mantels, had been diminished by years of mechanical systems that desiccated the wood and fireplace smoke that stained the mantels. The original furnishings had long since disappeared but the restored interiors now respond to the demands of a busy academic institution dedicated to maintaining the handsome character of the original residence.
