Rittenhouse

1830 Rittenhouse Square, acclaimed for its gorgeous lobby, bay windows, beautiful ironwork, a limestone façade, and exquisite canopy also holds the distinction of being the first high-rise building on Rittenhouse Square. Located on the south side of the park, 1830 Rittenhouse offers old-world charm, unparalleled views of the park, and all that living in the historic Rittenhouse Square neighborhood has to offer.

With a rich history and a reputation as one of the most elegant pre-war buildings in the neighborhood, we knew a refresh of the existing first-floor entry and lobby required an eye to the future with respect for the past. Currently, the interior boasts a traditional, Italianate style with a highly ornamental, decorative ceiling complimented by a Greek key pattern tile floor that is traditional in a timeless way.

The client envisions a refresh that implements design solutions that honor certain aspects of what is pre-existing while creating an updated ambiance that is contemporary, and chic, and provides greater functional solutions for the building’s residents. Updates include switching out chandeliers and sconces for more artistic and contemporary light fixtures to brighten and lighten the space. New furniture selected to compliment the furniture that will remain provides cleaner lines and more opportunities for the residents to enjoy moments of respite in the public area. Additionally, a refresh of the yellowing walls, repairs to the tile floor, and a redesign of the front door inspired by the original door’s ironwork speaks to the overall lighter and refreshed direction of the plan for an updated interior.
